Sustainable Landscapes

Native by Nature

Creating Living Spaces for People & Wildlife

Matrix Gardens has created sustainable living landscapes inspired by the beauty of Boulder Valley since 1984. We are plant-focused and locally sourced, providing a home for people and wildlife while conserving resources. We feature native plants, xeriscaping, edible landscaping, pollinator-friendly plants, firewise landscaping and energy conservation in our award-winning designs.

Come Home to a Living Landscape

Sustainability Is Not A Word. It’s A Way Of Life

Our obsessively plant-driven designs have won numerous landscape design and installation awards for our work, and have been featured in Sunset Magazine, Landscape Architecture and the New York Times. Matrix was integrally involved in creating the first “Sustainable Landscaping Best Practices” for the Colorado Front Range and coordinating several symposia on Sustainable Landscaping at the Denver Botanic Gardens.

We have received many “Excellence in Landscape” Awards from the Associated Landscape Contractors of Colorado (ALCC), including the first two “Sustainable Landscaping” awards, given for homes in the Boulder’s Holiday neighborhood and the Coal Creek neighborhood in Lafayette.
